Ultragas Traineeship

As an integral part of our organisational growth plan we have an in-house trainee recruitment program whereby we can assure that at least part of our increasing junior staff requirements can be met by our trainees. Trainees are engaged primarily at the company head office in Copenhagen, although increasingly also in some regional offices namely in Singapore and Santiago. Recruitment with regard to trainees for the 2017 program will start in January 2017.

The Ultragas trainee program

A traineeship at Ultragas is built up around an intensive two year program consisting of both in-house theoretical and practical training. The trainee program has been developed in cooperation with other members of the Danish Ship Owners Association. Hands on training is complimented with e-learning training and short intensive training programs in Copenhagen. The aim is to provide a comprehensive basic appreciation of all aspects of shipping. Trainees will participate in tailored courses in amongst other maritime law, and make field trips visiting ports and vessels. Furthermore trainees will also experience life at sea in the form of an orientation trip aboard one of our vessels. The two years are normally split up into periods within three main areas of shipping namely chartering (sales), operations & fuel procurement (practical tasks) and operational control (back-office support). Having completed the traineeship, trainees will normally invest a few more months in the commercial head office in Copenhagen enhancing their abilities before being stationed abroad for a period. In the years that follow a career and rotation plan assures ongoing development.

The traineeship is recognised and approved by The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and for those interested in further increasing their shipping qualifications it gives merits and admissions to some parts of The Chartered Shipbrokers, Tutorship program.
