Ultragas state of affairs

Ultragas ApS was established in Denmark on 1st January, 2012 as a fully owned subsidiary of Ultranav and with the primary purpose of handling and expanding the group’s fleet of gas tankers.


By means of bareboat contracts, Ultragas ApS, has assumed responsibility for the full commercial and technical operation of the fleet, which is fully owned by the Ultranav group. Technical management of the fleet is handled by own in-house Technical Management under the name of UltraShip. Commercial management is handled partly by own in-house organization which operates 8 semi-ref handy-size vessels, and partly in cooperation with partners through the associated company Unigas International which operates a fleet of total 37 gas tankers, 11 of which are provided by Ultragas ApS.

Ultragas ApS is recruiting the majority of the vessels’ crews from UltraShip Crewing Phils., Inc., Manila, Philippines, in which company Ultragas ApS is partnering with a well established local recruiting company. Through this arrangement Ultragas ApS has access to qualified crews with a high level of experience in the handling of specialized gas carriers.

Ultranav Business Support ApS provides accounting and human resources services to Ultragas ApS as well as to the remaining Ultranav companies based in Denmark.

The total fleet of gas carriers presently consists of 18 units, ranging in size from 3,750 cbm to 22,000 cbm cargo capacity. Of which 10 units are of the so-called semi-refrigerated design capable of carrying LPG and chemical gases under cooling down to -48 degr. C, whereas the remaining 8 units also have the ability to transport ethylene at down to -104 degr. C.

A total of 9 newbuildings were delivered during period 2014 to January 2017 and consisting of two 12,000 cbm semi-refrigerate/Ethylene carrier and seven 22,000 cbm semi-refrigerated carriers. For further details about the fleet and individual vessels’ specifications, please see Fleet
